This is a tapered piston for SLF big bore shocks. Developed by TeamYOKOMO DRIFT members, this Teams brand product features a tapered piston surface on one side, resulting in different damping characteristics depending on the mounting direction. With the tapered side facing down, the rebound damping is softer; with the tapered side facing up, the compression damping is softer. Furthermore, the piston bore is sloped diagonally relative to the shock's operating direction. This fluid dynamics allow for a change in damping in response to sudden shock inputs. While providing smooth movement under normal operation, it effectively suppresses machine instability with high damping force when passing over bumps. In the drift category, shock operation is often set to be softer. However, using shock oil that is too soft can easily lead to oil film breakdown between the O-ring and shock shaft, instantly spoiling the shock's operation. Therefore, this tapered piston features a drift-specific 6-hole design with more holes than usual, and using oil around #300 helps to avoid oil film breakdown.
